What Can You Expect After Radon Mitigation?

Every home is different. Soil conditions, foundation design, drain tile, crawlspaces, additions, existing radon systems, accessibility, and homeowner goals can all affect the final result. Because of that, no radon company should promise the same average radon levels after mitigation on every home.

However, we believe homeowners deserve to see real results of what a properly diagnosed and engineered radon mitigation system can achieve.

“Below 4.0 pCi/L” and “as low as possible” are not the same.

Many radon systems are designed mainly to get the home below the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L. Our process is designed for homeowners who want to reduce radon as low as possible.

We Perform Diagnostics on Every Home

Instead of simply picking a suction point, installing a fan, and hoping for the best. We use diagnostic testing, pressure field extension testing, radon monitoring, and system design to better understand how air moves beneath the home before finalizing the mitigation approach. This helps us design systems that are more complete and more effective, especially in homes with complex foundations, drain tile, crawlspaces, additions, or existing radon systems that are not reducing radon levels enough.

Our Goal Is the Lowest Achievable Level

There is no known safe level of radon exposure, so our goal is to reduce radon as much as possible. That does not mean every home will reach the same final number. Some homes could potentially be reduced even further, but the homeowner may decide the current result is acceptable and choose not to continue with additional work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can radon levels be reduced below 1.0 pCi/L?

Yes, many homes can be reduced below 1.0 pCi/L with the right diagnostic approach and system design. Many of the homes we have mitigated tested between 0.3 and 0.8 pCi/L after mitigation. However, it is important to note that indoor radon levels cannot be reduced below outdoor ambient radon concentrations.


What is a good radon level after mitigation?

A good post-mitigation radon level is as low as reasonably achievable. While many people focus on getting below 4.0 pCi/L, our goal is to reduce radon as much as possible.


Why do some radon systems only reduce levels to 2.0 or 3.0 pCi/L?

Some systems may miss part of the foundation, lack proper suction, fail to communicate beneath the slab, or fail to address drain tile, crawlspaces, additions, sump pits, block walls, or other radon entry points.


Can every home reach the same final radon level?

No. Some homes are more difficult than others, and some final results are limited by construction conditions, accessibility, aesthetics, homeowner budget, or how much additional work the homeowner authorizes.
